Hola!

Sorry it's been a bit longer than normal between episodes. As you know I've been in Valencia, enjoying some Spanish alcohol-free beers.

But did I use my 'free drink' pass with my paella? Find out by listening to this episode.

We took a trip out to East London to somewhere called The Blizard Institute. Some serious science happens there. There was talk of curing Hepatitis C while we were there. We met Dr Will Alazawi, a consultant Hepatologist (Liver guy) to ask him some serious (and some not so serious) questions about the health benefits of taking a year off alcohol.

His answers weren't what we were expecting.

First of all, at 39/40 and still managing 7/8 pints once a week is a major feat in itself - no idea how you two were actually managing that!

I'm 22 days in to a much shorter "dry" project so this was a great bit of insight and sharing.

Kind of shocking the medical intel - there's such a different perception between being "a drinker" and just drinking socially but actually the impact of the amount the average city worker drinks is pretty big just from the few drinks a week habit.

Great work guys, will keep listening!

    Geoff & Matt

Geoff turned 40 recently, and decided to have a dry year*. Matt is worried that this will make Geoff a really boring friend.

The pair first met in 2015 appropriately in a pub. Since then they have drunk almost 100 gallons of lager together** and even talked about opening a pub in South London.

This podcast is their ongoing argument about whether life is better with or without booze.

    * terms and conditions apply - more on that in the podcast.

** 6 pints each (average) on one night out a month (conservative!) for five years = 720 pints. 720/8 = 90 gallons. Don't tell our GPs.
